Evaluating the health and threats to all of Canada’s watersheds simply would not be possible without the help of people and companies that believe that our waters should be clean and full of fish, turtles, birds and more. We are proud to recognize their support.

Our Partners

Loblaw partnered with WWF-Canada to create the Loblaw Water Fund, which provides grants to local groups nationwide that are monitoring water quality, planting native vegetation and restoring habitat for turtles, fish and other freshwater species. Our first round of projects (2014-2015) engaged more than 1,500 volunteers in nine provinces and territories.

Thanks to support from HSBC's 150th anniversary community fund, WWF-Canada will evaluate 100 per cent of Canada’s major watersheds by 2017. Canadians will see, for the first time ever, a complete picture of watershed health nationwide. WWF-Canada is proud to be part of HSBC’s global commitment to protect fresh water, a vital resource for building healthy communities. www.hsbc.ca

Meet Our Donors

John and Pat McCutcheon Charitable Foundation

For over 20 years, John McCutcheon (pictured left, with his son, Bill) has been a champion for Canada’s fresh water, inspired by years of canoeing in Ontario wilderness. Support from the John and Pat McCutcheon Charitable Foundation made it possible to develop this website and share the health scores of watersheds with all Canadians.

Ted Hogarth believed in protecting the habitats of species at risk, and contributed annually to WWF-Canada for many years. His close friend John McCutcheon, former WWF board member, remembers him fondly "Ted and I had a number of discussions with WWF’s team regarding the vital need to provide a sustained level of fresh water for our wild creatures. Ted died three years ago and left a gift in his will in support of fresh water."

Beryl Ivey Fund

An avid gardener and adventurous traveller, Beryl Ivey was a loyal friend to WWF-Canada during her lifetime. She generously included a gift in her will to help WWF forever conserve the Carolinian zone of southwestern Ontario, home to 25 percent of our country’s at-risk species. It is because of her support that we are making strides towards conserving key Carolinian watersheds.

RBC Foundation

RBC made a five-year commitment through the RBC Blue Water Project to restore the health of the St. John, the longest river in Atlantic Canada. Thanks to RBC’s visionary support, WWF-Canada is helping to chart sustainability for the St. John and demonstrate a future that meets the needs of people and nature—not just there, but in watersheds across the country.
